About

Interesting tidbits about the guy behind the lens.

My name is Brandon Worf. I was born and raised in western Kansas, and my interest in photography started just after high school. I cut my teeth on a 1964 Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic 35mm SLR--a camera that taught me about lighting, composition, and focus because it doesn't have anything more sophisticated than a TTL light meter; it doesn't even have a hotshoe for an external flash.

After upgrading to a Canon EOS 30D dSLR in 2006, I started shooting for everything, including small music shows around the area, university events, and even a local newspaper. This is where much of my experience in photojournalism originated, where I shot for my own stories as a reporter, and often for secondary photo material for other stories or for standalone images.

Through time, diligence, experimentation, and an attention to detail and refusal to accept sub-standard photography, my skills grew, and eventually my "experiments" turned into paid gigs.

My first wedding was shot in January of 2008 at a large Methodist church in Hays KS. Since then, I've never looked back, having shot dozens of weddings in 5 years across Kansas and Nebraska, and even one in Hawaii.

Beginning in 2010, I began working as a web developer for a small business in the Kansas City area that specialized in the production of law enforcement vehicles and emergency vehicle lighting, where I personally photographed dozens and dozens of police cars, fire and EMS vehicles, utility trucks, and other public safety and security vehicles featuring emergency lighting. In addition, I gained some experience in shooting product images for catalogs and print production materials.

I took a hiatus from photography in 2013, shooting only one wedding in order to concentrate on the home-buying process and spending some time with my 3-year-old son and fiance. Merriam, KS is where I call home, and I work full-time as a web developer for a mid-size company in Mission, KS. In my spare time, I enjoy playing drums and percussion, railfanning, gardening, house projects, and bowling (just to name a few things).
